Energy Transformation Solutions

For over century, we have been producing pipes at our location in Mülheim an der Ruhr. The transportation of city and natural gas has always been the main market for our pipes. Through decades of production of pipes for onshore and offshore pipelines, EUROPIPE has the world's longest experience in the manufacture of the most demanding gas pipeline pipes.

EUROPIPE is renowned for producing large-diameter pipes used in extreme applications. These pipes withstand the lowest temperatures in arctic environments as well as the extreme pressures to be found in ultra-deep ocean applications.

Our offering consists of pipes in the following dimensions:

EUROPIPE manufactures the large-diameter pipes that are needed for the Energy Transition:

  • Our Pipes supply Natural Gas.

  • Our Pipes supply Hydrogen.

  • Our Pipes supply Ammonia.

  • Our Pipes enable Carbon Capture Storage.

  • Our Pipes Supply the Future.

Hydrogen transport and storage

Challenge Accepted

Our Pipes Supply Hydrogen

Hydrogen is increasingly being seen as a key component in the energy transformation of Europe. It has the potential to play a significant role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and helping to achieve the EU's climate goals.

Hydrogen can be produced from renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar power, and can be used to store excess energy, making it an important tool for balancing the grid and integrating renewable energy.

The development of a hydrogen infrastructure, including pipelines for transport, is essential for the widespread adoption of hydrogen as an energy source.

EUROPIPE's experience in producing large diameter pipes for the transport of hydrogen makes it well-positioned to support this transition.

EUROPIPE has a long tradition of producing large diameter pipes for the transport of this energy carrier. For over a century, the EUROPIPE predecessor companies in Mülheim have been supplying pipes for the transport of gas with a high hydrogen content. The city gas contained more than half hydrogen, which was produced in coking plants.

With the change in energy supply, demand is now growing for pipes that can either transport gaseous mixtures with a high hydrogen content or that are intended to transport pure hydrogen as part of a hydrogen network. Although EUROPIPE pipes have been safely transporting gas with hydrogen for a long time, EUROPIPE is having the pipes tested according to the ASME B31.12 standard in independent research institutions for current projects. Lines that have passed the KIH test according to ASME B31.12 include, for example:

  • Net4Gas Capacity for Gas
  • Fluxys Opwijk-Desteldonk
  • SNAM Adriatica

Carbon Capture and Storage

Protecting the Climate

Our Pipes enable Carbon Capture & Storage

Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology is essential in the fight against global warming. It is a process that captures carbon dioxide emissions from industrial processes and stores them safely underground, preventing them from being released into the atmosphere. This technology is crucial for industries that cannot decarbonize without it, such as cement and chemical production. Without CCS, it would be challenging for these industries to reduce their carbon footprint and meet the goals of the Paris Agreement. The development and implementation of CCS technology is a critical step towards a sustainable future.

For more than 10 years, research projects and CCS (Carbon Capture Storage) pilot projects have been underway, in which EUROPIPE has been involved from the beginning. Since the requirements for CO2 pipelines are extremely high, EUROPIPE is one of the main producers for transport in the so-called dense phase. The realization of the first major offshore and onshore projects in Europe and North America are expected as early as 2024.

Securing Energy Supply

Our Pipes Supply Natural Gas

For over 100 years, we have been producing pipes at our location in Mülheim an der Ruhr. The transportation of city and natural gas has always been the main market for our pipes. Through decades of production of pipes for onshore and offshore pipelines, EUROPIPE has the world's longest experience in the manufacture of the most demanding gas pipeline pipes with wall thicknesses of up to 50 mm.

EUROPIPE is renowned for producing large-diameter pipes used in extreme applications. These pipes withstand the lowest temperatures in arctic environments as well as the extreme pressures to be found in ultra-deep ocean applications.

Our offering consists of pipes in the following dimensions:

Longitudinally welded pipes with outside diameters from 610 mm to 1,524 mm and a wall thickness between up to 50 mm.

EUROPIPE supplies standard products as well as special products for many applications. As an economic solution for transporting gas and oil, EUROPIPE provides a broad range of customized products: Pipes that are manufactured according to national or international standards (API, EN, ISO) and specifications (NACE, DNV) or according to customer specifications.

Due to the procurement of heavy plates from our shareholders Dillinger and Salzgitter Mannesmann, we are able to manufacture even the most demanding pipes for sour gas applications in the shortest possible time.

Water

Water is Life

Our Pipes Supply Water

Water is a vital resource that is under increasing pressure from climate change, which affects its availability and quality. To ensure that water can be delivered to where it is needed and excess water can be drained away without loss, steel pipelines are the most reliable and efficient solution.

However, not all pipelines are the same. Depending on the type and source of water, different coatings are required to protect the pipes from corrosion and abrasion. At EUROPIPE and MÜLHEIM PIPECOATINGS, we have been developing and testing new and innovative coating systems in collaboration with our partners from industry and research.

Our goal is to find the optimal coating for each application, whether it is transporting saltwater from the sea, solid-water mixtures, or treated water from plants. Our coatings are designed to withstand the most aggressive and abrasive media, while ensuring the quality and safety of the water.
