About Us
EUROPIPE was founded in 1991 by the merger of the large-diameter pipe activities of Aktien-Gesellschaft der Dillinger Hüttenwerke, GTS Industries and Mannesmannröhren-Werke. Since then, EUROPIPE has been the market leader in the large-diameter pipe industry.
The history of the company dates back to the 19th century and the founding of its shareholders extends back to the 17th century. Today Salzgitter Mannesmann GmbH and AG der Dillinger Hüttenwerke each hold 50 % of the shares of EUROPIPE GmbH.
We are based in Mülheim an der Ruhr/Germany where we operate a manufacturing facility for longitudinally arc-welded large-diameter pipes with a capacity of up to 1.4 million tonnes or 3.000 km per year.
In order to protect the steel pipes against physical damage and corrosion, EUROPIPE offers the most effective coatings. A modern coating and lining plant, our subsidiary MÜLHEIM PIPECOATINGS GmbH, is located in the immediate vicinity of our pipe mill.
Our core principles
One of the basic requirements for the prosperity of a society is access to energy and water. These essential commodities are transported through pipes safely and economically. EUROPIPE is committed to pipe technology – to the benefit of all. We at EUROPIPE want to expand our leading position as a manufacturer of large-diameter pipes and provider of associated services by providing our customers
- with the lowest possible operating costs for long-life pipes
- with the lowest medium transport costs and our employees
- with long-term and secure jobs with opportunities for personal development

Partners
Research & Development
Our ability to innovate is a key component of our success. EUROPIPE maintains decades of cooperation with various research institutes. "Salzgitter Mannesmann Forschung" (SZMF), the research institute of Salzgitter Group, is the centre of excellence for research and development. The cooperation with a great number of universities and scientific facilities is coordinated and managed from SZMF. All of the institute's laboratories are accredited.
We develop existing products, processes and services together with customers and suppliers, creating new solutions.
Pre-Material
The steel used by EUROPIPE primarily comes from the plants of our two shareholders. The most important properties that are required of our large-diameter pipes are aimed for at the steel mill already: stability, durability and suitability for welding under building site conditions.
Steel slabs are rolled into high-quality large-diameter pipe sheets at the three sheet mills of AG der Dillinger Hüttenwerke and Salzgitter Mannesmann Grobblech GmbH, usually using the thermo mechanical process, with or without subsequent accelerated cooling. This establishes the best prerequisites for our pipes.

Pipe Bending
For decades, the Pipe Bending plant of Salzgitter Mannesmann Grobblech, which is located on the same site in Mülheim, supports EUROPIPE with world-class pipe bending capabilities. The pipes with wall thicknesses of up to 170mm are hot formed by induction heating.
Quality Management
Quality is a global language
Our success is based on a very simple principle: To not just contribute ideas, but to think ahead. With this in mind each of our staff is dedicated to even more efficient products, better manufacturing processes, excellent service and an even more successful cooperation with our customers.
Our quality management system facilitates this process. It is based on the API Q1 and ISO 9001 standards, and all of our locations have been ISO 9001 certified.
We can monitor compliance with these standards at any time, and implement improvements on the basis of objective measurements and audits.
We and our partners and suppliers fulfill the ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and ISO 45001 specifications.
In addition, we are actively working towards fulfilling ISO 27001..

EUROPIPE Management System / QHSE
The oil and gas pipeline market requirements are extremely challenging. In order to fulfil and exceed these, EUROPIPE operates a fine-tuned value chain, from molten metal to the final coated pipe, delivered on time and on specification, anywhere on the planet.
All relevant QHSE activities in this value chain have been analysed and documented. The resulting comprehensive set of process descriptions, plans, procedures, guidelines and the EUROPIPE Management Manual (EMM) describe the EUROPIPE Management System. It forms the basis for all activities in our company and interactions with our customers. It assures that all client-related product and manufacturing specifications are reflected in detailed QA/QC instructions and that these match the relevant work instructions and quality standards of the EUROPIPE Management System. This guarantees that all client related processes result in a successful project and sustainable business activity.
Our quality management system is based on the standards API Q1 and ISO 9001. EUROPIPE has held ISO 9001 certification since 1993. This means the processes are planned, carried out and documented according to the same, binding set of standards. We can check compliance with these rules at all times. Any necessary improvements can be undertaken based on objective measurements and audits in addition to our extensive operational experience.
Quality
The EUROPIPE Quality Management System is based on the following principles and benefits
